Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician from the United States. Born on the 20th of October 1964, she is the 49th Vice-President of the United States. She is also the first vice president to be female and highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as also the first African American and second Asian American vice president. Harris is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. In addition she served as an United States senator representing California between 2017-2021. Harris was born and was raised in Oakland, California. Harris started her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then she was recruited to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. In 2010, she was elected Attorney General of California and was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election to become the second African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. As senator, Harris fought for healthcare, federal de-scheduling and the legalization of cannabis as a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She was praised nationally for her pointed questions of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings, including Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual assault.
